Exposing PTM’s False Flood Relief Claims
Pakistan is witnessing a high level of destruction due to recent flash floods around the country. People have lost their lives, homes and sources of income. In this critical situation, the Pakistan army once again plays a crucial role in relief and rescue operations. In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, especially in Buner district, the Pakistan army plays a vital role in flood relief and counter terrorism operations. The efforts of Pakistan army are remarkable but unfortunately it has been criticized using false statements by the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
Debunking Saleem Zeb Afridi’s False Claims on Army’s Flood Relief
A pro PTM activist Saleem Zeb Afridi made false allegations in a video against Pakistan army. He called the relief efforts “Staged Drama”. According to him, Pak army is not doing anything in actual but just making visuals to create harmony in its relationship with public. He said that Army has wasted billions of rupees on the name of counter terrorism and done nothing in real life. These claims are worthless and have no evidence. It seems to devalue the efforts made by Pakistan army which are recognized by everyone.
Flash floods in KP, especially in Buner, made the relief operations vulnerable but the Pakistan army coped with the situation in a very vigilant and commendable way. It rescued the people using helicopters and boats. Pakistan army teams rescued people and provided them with necessary aids including shelter and food.
The floods bring many diseases with it especially the waterborne diseases and the attacks of different types of poisonous creatures like snake bites. The medical teams managed by Pakistan army play a crucial role in saving the lives of people from these dangers. Pakistan army efficiently clears the debris that was causing hurdles for the smooth supply of food to flood affected areas. These efforts are recognized by different national and international media outlets and civil society organizations. It shows the Pakistan army’s genuine efforts not the staged drama.

War of Pakistan army against terrorism
Pakistan army not only countered the dangers caused by floods but also fought effectively against terrorism. Everyone knows the condition of tribal areas, especially North Waziristan and South Waziristan. These areas were the hub of terrorists. Peace of these areas has deteriorated and the fear of being unsafe threatens the people every second. Pakistan army soldiers and officers brought back the peace of these areas by sacrificing their lives. They fought remarkably with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) through proper planning and never concerned about their own lives.
The allegations of PTM against Pakistan army of wasting billions of rupees are a shameful statement as it contradicts the reality. PTM should refrain from passing these types of statements as it is just to manipulate the image of Pakistan army and nothing relatable to facts.
In this critical time when political elites should coordinate with army to smoothen the rescue operations, PTM is playing blame game. PTM is deteriorating the image of army in front of public that can cause severe security threat to the unity of nation.
It seemed to be a foreign agenda and propaganda to distrust public from the crucial institutions, thereby weakening the national unity. Calling the sincere efforts of the Pakistan Army ‘staged drama’ is unfair to our soldiers, who prioritize public lives over their own.
In the current situation of country facing natural disasters in the form of floods, it is mandatory for everyone to create harmony and unity among the people. It is very important for coping with this hard time. The video by PTM activist Zain Afridi contains allegations against Pakistan army of making stage drama in the name of rescue operations is unjust and condemnable. Putting these types of allegations against state security institutions is the direct attack on the national unity.
