Pakistan as a Regional Stabilizer

Pakistan as a Regional Stabilizer
Responsible Nuclear State Promoting Peace
Pakistan places peace and stability as its primary objective. Even if the subcontinent is experiencing shifts and India is becoming more aggressive, Pakistan has shown itself to be a responsible nuclear power. Its nuclear strategy depends on credible defense, strategic deterrence, and regional peace building rather than aggressive intentions.
India’s aggression and Pakistan’s tolerance
India regularly shows hostile attitude beyond its borders. HR violation in IIOK, Border agreement’s disobedience, and attempts to establish its supremacy in the region are part of its plan. On the contrary, Pakistan has always shown responsibility and tolerance.

As a responsible nuclear state, Pakistan is the harbinger of stability and peace in the region. Despite India’s militancy and adventurism, Pakistan has focused its strategy on containment and defensive thinking. This difference makes Pakistan a more responsible state than India.
Pakistan’s nuclear program is not designed for offensive purposes. It is transparent, internationally monitored and fully defensive. Pakistan has always adhered to the principle of Credible Minimum Deterrence nuclear policy.
Its purpose is to maintain a balance of power so that no enemy can even think of aggression. It is only a means to save its sovereignty rather than showing power or expansionism. This attitude proves Pakistan as a promoter of peace in the region.
Diplomacy and peace efforts
Pakistan has consistently supported diplomacy to settle conflicts. It convinced the world via his diplomacy that using force is never a sustainable answer. In this regard, Pakistan’s peaceful attitude towards peace in Afghanistan in the form of talks between the Taliban and the US are significant. The choices of Pakistan are opened in space for regional cooperation. Instead of relying only on power, it leaned on UN resolutions and international law in Kashmir, aiming to resolve things through diplomacy.
With both Kashmir and Afghanistan, the emphasis was on peace talks and political solutions, which gave Pakistan a role as a stabilizing voice in South Asia.

Internationally, it’s shown a pattern of sticking to agreements and laws. Pakistani troops have long been part of UN peacekeeping, often in some of the toughest spots. At the same time, the country has worked to strengthen ties through groups like the ECO and OIC. Even though it never signed treaties like the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it has still aligned with those global standards, signaling the country is taking security and cooperation seriously. India’s aggressive acts, on the other hand, are a real reflection of its unstable nature.
India’s policy of destabilization
India’s policy has always been based on militancy and interference. By increasing its military might, it disrupts the regional power balance. Its goals are evident from atrocities in occupied Kashmir, border breaches, and proxy conflicts in nearby nations. While intensifying its own nuclear weapons race, India vigorously sought to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). That’s the reason the peace in the area is directly threatened by its operations.
Nuclear deterrence and Global Trust
Pakistan has never used its nuclear program for militarily or political purposes. It has tried to ensure transparency and check and balance for its peaceful nuclear strategy. Despite being a nuclear state, Pakistan has advocated to the world that it values harmony, communication, and collaboration.
In order to avoid any kind of accident, Pakistan has set up its Command and Control System in the form of three institutes i.e. NCA (National Command Authority), SPD (Strategic Plans Division) and SFC (Strategic Forces Commands). It is a manifestation of global confidence that the world considers Pakistan’s system safe.
Pakistan as an advocate of peace and unity
Pakistan has presented itself as a promoter of regional peace. It valued collaboration, tolerance, and diplomacy over force. This attitude makes it a positive and responsible state in the international community. Pakistan has used the alley of diplomacy and dialogues to present itself as the advocate of stability. It is a responsible and peaceful nuclear state because of its peace-oriented mindset. Its nuclear strategy and attitude towards its nuclear program at international level shows contrasts to India’s plan of supremacy.
Pakistan has always made it clear from its attitude and policies that it is a responsible nuclear power that strives for peace and stability in the region.
Despite India’s continuous border provocations, and proxy wars, Pakistan has never adopted an aggressive policy. It has adopted a nuclear policy of Credible Minimum Defense Capability to maintain a balance of power in the region. Pakistan’s nuclear programme is transparent, defensive and in line with global standards. Moreover, it has always given priority to diplomacy for regional peace and stability. It also plays an important role in UN peacekeeping missions. Pakistan’s involvement in regional platforms like OIC and ECO shows its concern towards cooperation. This attitude makes Pakistan the real stabilizer of the region and the real harbinger of peace.
