The second visit by Field Marshal Asim Munir to the United States in less than a span of one month and a half is not a mere extension of diplomatic contact by Pakistan, but it is an indicative shift in the direction of the relationship between Pakistan and the US. Speaking to the members of the Pakistani diaspora in Tampa, Florida, the Army Chief FM Asim Munir’s reiterated his desire to drive bilateral relationships towards a beneficial, sustainable and favourable direction. To Pakistan this is not just a question of the diplomatic nicety but also one of correcting the balance of partnerships to face new security, economic and geopolitical realities.
