Apparently, we have lost India and Russia to China, Hopefully, God will see to a successful future of both, Trump (1)

American President Donald Trump never hesitates to make one bold statement after the other. His latest remark about India and Russia has caused an argument. He said that the US appears to have ceded both nations to China. Today, in world politics the words are weighty. They show the increased insecurity of America in Asia.

The balance power has been changing over the years. China has become very influential in a short span of time. It has enhanced the Russia relationship and intensified the trade with India. Formerly dominant America is seeing allies run towards Beijing. It is this changing order that Trump refers to. It gives a caution to Washington.

India has never attempted to be strategic in independence. It buys weapons from Russia. It trades with America. It reacts with China even in the event of border conflicts. However, New Delhi recently has been inclined towards adoption of multipolar diplomacy. This is reflected in its membership of BRICS. It continues increasing its trade dependence in China. This remark by Trump demonstrates the aggravation of US by balancing performance by India.

Russia and the Eastward Tilt

Russia’s drift is clearer. Western sanctions drove Moscow eastwards. The Ukraine war made China its best partner. Trade of energy between the two soared. There was increased military cooperation. Beijing has become a lifeline to Russia. Trump realized this fact rather plainly. The U.S. no longer has much leverage over Moscow.

Beijing plays the long game. It provides markets, technology and infrastructure. It wooed countries that Washington alienated. It has created an influence through projects such as Belt and Road. This is a gain to China because America does not get along with allies. Opportunity presents itself to India and Russia in collaboration with China. The comment by Trump demonstrates the success of the strategy formulated by Beijing.

American strategic blunders

Not to blame US, it depended on sanctions. It has left its commitment to Asia shaky. Washington demanded allegiance yet provided very few economic benefits. Countries are more interested in utilities rather than speeches. Announcing that is a confession of miscalculations of the US.

Trump said it appears that we have lost India and Russia to China. The punchline is uncouth and straightforward. It displays feelings of powerlessness. The U.S. is marginalized in the Eurasian theatre. Understated in his words is the urgency of reassessment.

Faith in the Future

Trump concluded by stating a prayer. May God grant a blessed future to both. It is of a gentler touch. Even though there is political rivalry there is goodwill. America will not desire to collapse over these countries. Rather it pursues a future in which the prosperity will not threaten US interests.

This is not just a casual comment Trump made. It is a reflector of the changing world order. India and Russia are following their own ways. China is their newfound ground. The US needs to change or lose more. The punchline is still there sold to China not permanently. Washington sees the real work as restoring trust, re-evaluating approach and recovering influence. This is the difficulty of the multipolar world.
