FBR Launches New System for Sales Tax De-Registration

FBR Launches New System for Sales Tax De-Registration

The Federal Board of Revenue FBR has launched a new digital system for sales tax de registration to make the process faster more transparent and fully automated. This initiative is part of FBR’s ongoing tax reforms and digital transformation plan which aims to improve taxpayer services and reduce manual work. In the past businesses that wanted to cancel or close their sales tax registration had to follow a long paper based process that involved multiple approvals. With the new system taxpayers can now apply for de registration online through the IRIS portal. This makes the process quicker simpler and more efficient.

This move is another important step toward digital governance and ease of doing business in Pakistan. FBR has been introducing technology in its operations to make tax compliance easier and more reliable. The new system is expected to improve efficiency reduce delays and bring greater transparency across the tax network.

FBR New Online De-Registration System

The new sales tax de registration system has been created to simplify how businesses discontinue their sales tax registration. Through the FBR IRIS platform registered taxpayers can now submit their de registration requests online without visiting any office or submitting manual forms. Once an application is submitted the system automatically checks the taxpayer’s record pending returns and any outstanding liabilities before approval. This digital verification replaces the manual review process that often caused delays. Only those taxpayers who have cleared all dues will be allowed to de register ensuring accountability and compliance.

Benefits for Taxpayers and Businesses

The new system provides several advantages for both individuals and companies. It removes unnecessary paperwork reduces official visits and allows businesses to complete the entire process online. This saves time and helps taxpayers focus more on their business operations. The system offers faster application processing real time status tracking digital record keeping and less dependence on tax officials. It also prevents fraudulent de registrations by using automated checks to verify tax liabilities before approval.

This initiative supports the government’s Digital Pakistan vision by promoting paperless work and improving the experience of registered taxpayers. By simplifying the process FBR expects to build more trust and voluntary compliance among the business community.
