Pakistan Secures Seat on UN Human Rights Council for 2026–2028 Term

Pakistan has been elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026 to 2028 term after securing a clear majority of votes in the United Nations General Assembly. This victory shows international recognition of Pakistan’s active role in global diplomacy and its continued engagement with important international institutions. Officials in Islamabad called the win an acknowledgment of Pakistan’s long standing commitment to dialogue cooperation and respect for human rights. The new term will begin on January 1 2026 and continue until the end of 2028.
