PTCL Group Reports 16% Revenue Growth in First Half of 2025

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the country’s leading telecom and ICT services provider, has announced its financial results for the half year ended June 30, 2025. The PTCL Board of Directors reviewed the performance in a meeting held in Islamabad. The PTCL Group recorded an impressive 16% revenue growth, reinforcing its position as Pakistan’s premier integrated telecom services provider.


Financial Highlights

Group revenue increased by 16% year-on-year, driven by strong performance in fixed broadband, mobile data, enterprise, and carrier wholesale services.
PTCL revenue grew by 12%, with 62% growth in Flash Fiber and 15% growth in Business Solutions compared to the same period last year.
• The Carrier and Wholesale segment continued its strong performance with 18% growth, while the international business also achieved a 10% year-on-year increase.
Operating profit reached Rs. 7.9 billion, reflecting a 38% rise over HY 2024. However, PTCL posted a net loss of Rs. 3.3 billion, mainly due to a one-time adjustment for additional pension liability ordered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Ufone 4G achieved a 17% year-on-year topline growth, supported by commercial and operational resilience, and delivered a strong EBIT of Rs. 7.6 billion, compared to Rs. 0.7 billion in the same period last year.
U Microfinance Bank (Ubank) reported 25% revenue growth year-on-year.

PTCL Group Performance and Key Achievements

PTCL’s flagship Flash Fiber broadband service continued to drive revenue growth during the first half of 2025. The company expanded its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) footprint nationwide, providing high-speed, reliable internet to a growing subscriber base.

In its business services segment, PTCL maintained leadership across IP bandwidth, cloud computing, data centers, and ICT solutions, strengthening Pakistan’s role as a regional connectivity hub. The company signed a Trans-Pakistan connectivity agreement with leading Chinese operators, enhancing east-west digital trade routes. PTCL also made a major breakthrough by completing submarine cable capacity sales from Singapore to Marseille, further expanding its international connectivity.

The Enterprise division expanded into FinTech, secured major new contracts, and achieved momentum in Trakker and IoT solutions. Government clients continued to trust PTCL for M2M (machine-to-machine) communication and bandwidth management services.

Strategic partnerships were formed with leading mobile operators for IP bandwidth and satellite-based connectivity, particularly in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, including an alliance with a global satellite provider to enhance broadband access across Pakistan.


Technological Advancements and Customer Innovation

PTCL has successfully delivered Pakistan’s first 5G-ready smart residential community, combining modern infrastructure with advanced digital connectivity. The project aligns with the government’s Digital Pakistan vision and showcases PTCL’s ability to integrate global technologies for local transformation.

In another industry-first initiative, PTCL launched automated bill delivery through WhatsApp, allowing customers to conveniently receive their monthly bills directly. The company also entered a partnership with Mercantile, Apple’s official distributor in Pakistan, to offer exclusive iPhone 16 packages featuring extended warranties, instant insurance, and telecom benefits.


Ufone 4G and UBank Continue Growth Momentum

Ufone 4G expanded its nationwide 4G network during HY 2025, reaching 17.5 million subscribers, a 13% increase from last year. This pushed the company’s base penetration to 66%.

The brand launched ‘Super 5’, a shared connectivity plan for up to five users, offering combined data and voice services for families, friends, or small teams. Meanwhile, Ufone’s digital sub-brand Onic crossed 300,000 subscribers in May 2025, marking 132% growth year-on-year. Onic’s success as a fully digital telecom brand has redefined user experience through convenience and customer-centric design.

U Microfinance Bank (UBank) continued strengthening its position among Pakistan’s leading microfinance institutions. The bank optimized its branch network, improved efficiency, and delivered a seamless customer experience.

PTCL Group’s digital ecosystem also showed impressive results. Its mobile wallet (UPaisa) surpassed 1 million monthly active users, recording 155% growth, while the UPTCL self-care app reached 5 million active users, signaling strong digital engagement and empowerment.
