Renowned academic and intellectual Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra has passed away. The news of her demise was confirmed by Pakistani playwright, poet, and television writer Asghar Nadeem Syed.

Expressing deep sorrow and grief, Asghar Nadeem Syed shared that Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra passed away in Lahore, and details about her funeral prayers will be announced later.

Dr Zehra completed her Master’s degree in Urdu from Government College Lahore and went on to earn a PhD in History from the East-West Center, University of Hawaii.

From 1986 to 2009, she served as the Principal of Government College for Women, Gulberg Lahore. She was fluent in seven languages and was an active member of various educational, administrative, social, and cultural committees.

Prime Minister’s Tribute

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the passing of Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra. He paid tribute to her lifelong contributions to the promotion and preservation of the Urdu language, as well as her dedicated service in teaching and research.

The Prime Minister also prayed for her forgiveness and for patience and strength for her family in this difficult time.

Alhamra Chairman’s Condolence

Chairman of Alhamra, Razi Ahmad, also expressed deep sorrow over her passing, saying that Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra turned the Urdu language into a subject of culture and research.

He described her as a brilliant scholar and literary icon, emphasizing that she served in the field of education for more than forty years, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
